New Forest School: Light, time, space

26 February 2019 - 23 March 2019

Mezzanine Gallery

In 2018, students from the New Forest School developed these extraordinary photographic artworks in response to our recent exhibition, Space, Light and Time: Edward Woodman, A Retrospective.
Young people aged 11 to 15 visited the gallery to draw inspiration from Edward Woodman’s exhibition, particularly observing how photography can play with space and light to create striking images. Using digital cameras and iPads, the young artists experimented with clear glass prisms, water, cut glass and compact discs to explore the possibilities of light and perspective, without using any digital manipulation or post-production. Through this project the artists have developed their skills and understanding of photography, as well as other disciplines, such as science, to produce this stimulating collection of images.
New Forest School is a small, independent school providing high quality education for boys and girls aged 8 to 16 who are not attending mainstream school because of severe or complex needs.
