About a good neighbour
As part of our ongoing offsite programme, John Hansard Gallery is pleased to be working with the Istanbul Biennial and artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset, curators of this year’s biennial. Institutions worldwide have been invited to host artist billboards in public spaces, and we are proud to announce the University of Southampton's Hartley Library, Level 4 Gallery amongst these destinations.

The theme of this year’s Istanbul Biennial is 'a good neighbour', exploring notions of home, neighbourhoods, and how private spheres have changed in recent years. These graphic billboards are a joint collaboration between photographer Lukas Wassmann and graphic designer Rupert Smyth, where the image and text open up conversations about it means to be "a good neighbour".

Currently on show in Level 4 Gallery, 20 November 2017 until 4 February 2018.
